About me

I am an Icelandic artist living in Reykjavík. I work with visual art, drawing, painting, textile and photography. I graduated with an art degree from Fjölbrautaskólinn í Breiðholti. I am currently studying German and working in Reykjavík.

My Evironment

I have always been connected with nature, I was raised that way. Me and my family used every free time we had to get closer to nature and we have spent a lot of time in Skorradalur, a forest in Iceland where I partly grew up. I have also lived downtown in Reykjavík for a long time now and I love living there. I go every year to my forest, I pick my herbs, berries and mushrooms for the winter, I also go hiking with my family and fishing during the sommer. My work is mostly influenced by nature and the people around me.

What I am working on

I am working on an exhibition that will be on the 22th of September in Berlin. I will also have a workshop there before my exhibition.

The exhibition is about exploring if the environment a person has known for a longer time is a stronger inspiration than the new environment a person is getting to know.

It’s  about researching the artist’s environment in two parts. First to reflect on things they know from their environment, country, people and nature, and using it collectively as inspiration. Secondly to get to know a different environment and getting inspiration there from the same concepts. In the final process those two parts meet.

What is inspiration and where does it come from?

I will be living in Berlin for a month and studying German for the time I am there.
